Growing up in Chicago, she witnessed firsthand the inequities that often-defined marginalized communities and developed a deep desire to illuminate these issues through art. This passion led her to pursue studies in both communications and filmmaking, equipping her with a unique lens to explore systemic injustices and create narratives rooted in truth and advocacy.

Finkel Social Justice Scholarship, military accolades, and academic achievement awards such as the California State University, Northridge Dean’s Honor Roll and the Santa Monica College Dean’s Honor Roll. Her accomplishments also include the Twenty Pearls Heritage Foundation Award, the Black Collegians Program’s Sue and Bill Gross CTE Scholarship Award, and the John Dubay & Solomon Whitlow Memorial Scholarship. These awards reflect not only her intellectual rigor but also her resilience and dedication to uplifting marginalized voices and fighting for equity.
Her creative projects exemplify her ability to merge art with advocacy. Sharon’s series The Lioness Crown is set in the year 2035, in a near-future world where global powers no longer wage war openly. Instead, nations, corporations, private militaries, and artificial intelligence systems compete in secret for control. The complex characters and emotionally charged narratives explores power, legacy, sovereignty, and who truly controls the future—the rulers we can see, or the systems operating in the shadows.
Another standout project, Sealed, showcases Sharon’s ability to blend the investigative momentum of a drama with the psychological depth of a character study, unfolding through intimate performances, quiet suspense, and escalating revelations hidden within ordinary systems of missing identities. Set in Los Angeles, Church Girls is a bold, hilarious, and unapologetically real dramedy that follows four Black women as they struggle to reconcile their faith-based upbringing with the messy, unpredictable reality of adulthood. Through this story, Sharon highlights the enduring power of friendship and what happens when women raised to be “good girls” start redefining what faith, friendship, and freedom truly mean.
Sharon’s storytelling ethos is rooted in her belief that narratives can serve as a catalyst for social transformation. She envisions a future where the entertainment industry is a more inclusive and equitable space, and she is taking concrete steps to realize that vision. Currently, she is working toward founding a production company dedicated to creating diverse, thought-provoking content that uplifts women, and provides a platform for voices that are often unheard.
